How to Give Mom a Great
Mother's Day Without Spending Money
Mothers
glory in the love and appreciation of their children.
Expressing your affection on Mother's Day for the woman who
nourished you through childhood is simple. Open your heart and
cherish your love for one another.
For Adults
Steps:
1. Ask your mother what you might do to make her life better -
small repairs around her house, running a special errand,
taking care of a difficult landscaping project.
2. Spend Mother's Day with your mom, but join in with other
family members to bring dinner to her.
3. Invite a long-lost friend or relative - someone your mother
remembers fondly, but rarely sees - to the Mother's Day
dinner.
4. Stay to help your mom clean up after the gathering.
5. Alternatively, dress up your entire family and accompany
your mom to her place of worship.
6. Remember to bring her a corsage.
7. Take her home with you for brunch.
8. Give her a framed copy of your latest family portrait.
9. Trace the family tree and give your mom a copy to display.
10. Write your mother a letter, full of warm memories of your
life together.
For Children
Steps:
1. Use your imagination to make your mom a special card.
2. Put together a scrapbook for your mom.
3. Send her an electronic greeting card if she's a computer
buff.
4. Pick wildflowers, or ask your dad or a neighbor to allow
you to cut flowers for a bouquet.
5. Make a fun family video to play for her on Mother's Day.
6. Set your alarm, get up early without waking your mom, and
prepare breakfast for her.
7. Serve her breakfast in bed.
8. Promise you'll do all of your mom's chores for the day.
9. Tell her you're going to clean up your room, take a bath
and dress in your best clothes without complaining.
10. Save your allowance - or split the cost with your dad -
and treat your mom to lunch.
Overall Warnings:
Money spent on your mother cannot replace time spent with her.

Butler for a day by Ana Handy
For children of all ages: Get up early and dress in your best
clothes (be creative) and let your mom know that you will be
her buttler or maid for the day and follow her wishes. Keep a
straight face and make her feel she's the Queen of England.
